I am in real estate because of the challenge and opportunity that comes with each transaction which I find exciting. I enjoy the opportunity to connect with people and support them through the transaction and change in their lives. I have not found anything so fulfilling in terms of work for my brain and my heart as real estate. I love it because most of the time our hard work as advisors pays off and staying in touch with my clients to be a part of their lives in their new spaces is one of the greatest rewards of it all.
Prior to real estate I worked in human resources and property and casualty insurance in a corporate setting. This previous experience gives me a unique perspective in real estate and has trained me how to manage difficult situations and collaborate with other agents or industry professionals to creatively solve a problem if needed. I’m a huge data nerd so running numbers and doing comparative market analysis for properties is something I love. Over the years I always wanted to go to law school but it was never quite right for me, so reviewing documents, bylaws and contracts will never get old or annoying to me. I like to think that my triple threat of the service mindset, data nerd and love for legal review really sets me apart from other agents.
I understand that not every move is an easy one or for a happy reason, and each client and situation deserves the attention and commitment to help them reach their goals as it relates to moving regardless of the reason behind it. I work to take away the burden so that my clients can find joy and peace in their new space. The wait or difficult path to get to the finish line quickly fades once the moving boxes are open and new memories are made.
I haven’t always lived in West Michigan. Moving from a suburb of a large city to a more rural area was an adjustment every time I did it, as a child, at the college age and again as an adult. I am thankful for each of these moves as it allowed me to understand how different experiences and locations shape us and bring value. I think having experiences like this allow me to appreciate and be aware of the different areas, neighborhoods and locations and how to describe them in ways to help future buyers and sellers especially if they are relocating or new to the area.
